Lake Powell Summer Trip with the Jacksons

We had a two day vacation at Lake Powell with Steve, Danielle and Alexa during their end of June summer visit. We loaded up our truck and trailer and headed to Lake Powell on Monday at 10:00. Andrew had already headed that way at 6:00 in the morning with his Priest group. They spent two days on a nice house boat and also had several speed boats.

We reserved a night at the Wahweep campground. We swam in the pool there at the resort. There were lots of European people there and the scenery was amazing. We had dinner at our trailer and enjoyed a nice evening together.

The next morning we packed up the trailer, picked up Andrew, and went and rented a speed boat for the day. It was a nice 24' Reinell and worked just great for us for the day. We cruized along and enjoyed the beauty of the lake and canyons as we made our way up to Rainbow Bridge. We especially enjoyed discovering the side canyons and really liked the tall walls and narrow water ways of Cathedral Canyon.

Andrew did some knee boarding but the water got rougher as the day went on so we didn't do anything more than just enjoy the ride and scenery. We had a picnic lunch in the shade of a canyon wall while on the boat. Alexa was great and just enjoyed bouncing along and napping as we went. It was a great day. We got the boat out and returned and hooked back up to our trailer and headed home to St. George. We got home at about 10:00 and slept well after several days in the warm sun. We were able to enjoy Danielle, Steve and Alexa for a couple of more days before they headed back to Orem to spend the 4th of July with Steve's family.
