January 29, 2011 Saturday Hikes

So happy to be out and hiking again! With only Andrew around we haven't been doing much this past year. Dan and Andrew usually go biking and I go to the gym. So our school is participating in a district competition to see which school can log the most hours of exercise. Let's just say we are pretty competitive so we have been going on hikes as faculty and friends each week.

Last Saturday we hiked the Bowl hike up by Gunlock. They called it Camelback but it was the same hike. It was a little chilly to start but was beautiful. I love being out in Red Rock country. It is so renewing to my soul.

This Saturday Dan and I led the hike to the petraglyphs out by the Ledges. There were a few more fences up that we had to crawl under but we made it none-the-less. We had a good turn out and a great time. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny 65 degree day. Perfect!

January 15, 2011 Hal and Desi Sealing in the SLC Temple

We left St. George for SLC at 8:00 am Saturday morning. We stopped in Provo for gas and a taco and then continued on to the SLC temple. We met up with a lot of family in the waiting room before entering the temple. Hal and Desi were married about three years ago and because they both were divorced it took a bit to get everything ready for their sealing to take place. It was worth the wait. They make a beautiful couple and brought together two nice families. Desi has four children, three are married and Hal has two children, Alisha and her husband and two kids and Adam. Courtney lives with them in Washington state and Adam visits.
Grandma Flake was able to ride up on Friday with Art and Apryl. We were going to bring her back with us but she was feeling well enough and decided to stay and visit longer. Nancy was great as usual to host lots of people staying at her home. Those at the temple were Grandma Flake, Art and Apryl, Angie and Blake, Nancy, Kristen and Zach, Andrew and Leslie, Tom and Meagan, Dan and I and Andrew, Jon and Lesa and Jeremiah, Hal and Desi and her sister and her kids, Desi's children and spouses and grand kids, Ray, Ryan and Rebecca, and Ben and four of his kids.
We took a few pictures after and then headed back to Orem where we met and ate at the Golden Corral. More of Apryl's kids and Misty joined us for dinner. Next we went back to Nancys and visited and told stories for awhile. Dave and Mindy Suttner drove up to see everyone. We headed back home late and got to bed a 2:00 am. Dan started his Bishopric meetings at 6:00 am.
It was a great day!

Senior Ball 2011

Andrew took Ali Wagner to Senior Ball on January 8, 2011. They went with nine other couples who Andrew knew mostly from Cross Country. Ali plays soccer and is friends with all of them. She is a really great girl and looked beautiful in her pretty plum colored dress.

They started their date at noon and went to the park and played Ultimate Frisbee and volleyball. Then they went and ate all you could eat pizza at Pizza Factory. They were in the upper room at the downtown Pizza Factory and they ate with one other group from DHHS. Next they had a video scavenger hunt that took them to different stores, drive though windows, and getting random people to be in their pictures. They had a great time.

Dinner was served at the new church in Little Valley in the RS room. Shelli Larkin and I transformed the room into a romantic restaurant using Chinese lanterns, candles and other decor. Shelli is a caterer and provided a wonderful meal for just $10. per couple. They had chicken cordon bleu, baked potatoes, beans, rolls, salad, sherbet and ice cream dream brownies. One of the parents came over and took pictures for the group. So besides renting tuxes and buying new dresses and of course the flowers; they were able to have a fun date without breaking the bank!
