Eagle Scout Yosemite Trip

Our ward had like 25 Life Scouts at the beginning of the year. Dan and the Young Men wanted to encourage them to finish up and earn their Eagle awards. So they came up with the idea to offer a trip to Yosemite to all those who earned their Eagle Scout awards this year. We made a slide show and presented the plan to the scouts and parents at the beginning of the year. The boys were excited and Dan worked with the BLM and Park service people to come up with lots of ideas that the boys could use for projects. The boys bought into it and Dan worked along with them and many leaders and parents to do some 20 or so Eagle projects this year.

Dan was a Life Scout and never quite received his Eagle Award as a boy. I believe that helping that many boys earn their awards is worth him receiving an honorary Eagle Award! He has probably helped at least another 30 earn theirs over the years. He also helped Trent Saaralainen in a neighboring ward earn his this year.

Dawson went out to Oakland with Uncle Ray and family to Ryan's wedding in the Oakland temple the weekend before. Ray's family brought Dawson down to Yosemite and stayed a night before the rest of the boys from St. George met up with them on Wednesday. Looks like they had a great time.
