Christmas Greeting 2012

LOVE from the Flake Family 2012
Danielle and Steve LOVE being done with dental school!  Steve is practicing with Pacific Dental in Prescott, AZ. They welcomed baby Bennett on August 25th, their wedding anniversary. Alexa, age 3, LOVES being a big sister. She attends pre-school a few days a week and also likes gymnastics and singing.  We’ve enjoyed living a little bit closer to them this year and would still like to have them move back to St. George, eventually. Danielle is leading the singing in Primary and Steve is the Young Men’s president.
Lindsey and Carlton LOVE hiking the high points of the North Eastern states. They have 11 conquered so far. They recently hiked Rhode Island on Thanksgiving Day and then explored Plymouth in Massachusetts and had Thanksgiving dinner there. They also spent a few days discovering Boston. They are finishing their 3rd year of dental school in Philadelphia.  Dillon is one year old and LOVES discovering new things every day. Lindsey stays busy as the Young Women President in her ward and Carlton is in the Sunday School Presidency and teaches about every week.
Dawson LOVES to run; especially when he got to run with the DSC Cross Country team in Hawaii for eight days! He returned to school at Dixie State College (soon to be university) after returning from his mission to San Jose, CA in January. Dawson has just completed his Associates Degree this semester. He will continue working on his prerequisites for the Occupational Therapy program.
Andrew LOVED the announcement that missionaries could begin their service earlier.  He just received a mission call to the El Salvador San Salvador mission in Central America. He leaves on February 20 and heads straight to the Guatemala mission training center. He will have his farewell on February 17th, Presidents Weekend. Andrew is just completing his first semester at DSC. He continues to LOVE spending time camping, climbing, biking, sailing, and four wheeling.
Dan and Shelly are still in LOVE! Even after thirty years of marriage! Dan continues to do work for the US Postal Service installing mail box units. He does other government contracts here and there. This summer included a job in Wyoming and he spent time with the boys working on the spillway at the Pine Valley reservoir.  Dan spends a lot of time in our ward Bishopric with the youth and I continue to work in the stake young women.
I’m still teaching at Millcreek High School. Good thing that I LOVE my job! (Most days that is!) Dan and I LOVE being grandparents and all the fun that entails. It has involved a lot of travel this year--from Portland, OR to Prescott, AZ and several trips to Philadelphia. Dan and I and Danielle and her kids were visiting in Pennsylvania when Hurricane Sandy hit this fall. We had to add several extra days to our trip because, as you know, the whole East coast shut down for a few days. The redeeming grace from this tragic event was that I was stranded with all three of my grandkids! We were without power over night but fared extremely well compared to other areas.
We LOVED spending time at reunions with the Datwylers in Idaho in July and the Flakes in Liberty, Utah.  We had a special celebration for Dan’s mother, Floretta Flake’s 80th birthday. She has moved back to Tennessee after living close to us for three years in St. George. I joined my sisters and a cousin in Carmel, CA for our first annual sister’s trip in October. We always LOVE hiking Havasupai in the Grand Canyon and especially enjoy sailing at Sand Hollow with the boys.
We send our LOVE to each of you!
