June 19, Father's Day and more Summer Sailstice Sailinlg
We enjoyed participating in the world wide Summer Sailstice sail day on Saturday. Here is Andrew's description of the events that he wrote to Dawson on his mission: I have a funny story. Saturday we went sailing at the lake with our new sailing club we were having a good time. Then dad told me to try sailing solo just for fun so I went out and was doing good and going fast and having fun. Then I was just casually sailing along and the wind wasn't even strong or anything and I was sitting too far back on the metal bar on the side and I just slid off. MAN OVERBOARD!!!. So I came to my senses and realized that the boat was still sailing along with out its captain across the lake. But luckily there were a few other sailors and one picked me up and another stopped our boat from running aground on the shore. I felt like a fool but nobody was hurt so it was funny.
Carlton opened his first Father's Day present while he was here. His mom and Lindsey bought him a little outfit for their future baby. On the front of the shirt it says, "I love Dad because..." and on the back it shows the backside of two panda bears, and it says, "he's always got my back!" So adorable. We do not know if this is going to be a boy or a girl. We will find out when he arrives!
Andrew and I enjoyed a nice day with Dan on Father's Day. We made Tennessee tacos and shared them with Art and Apryl and Grandma Flake and Brandy. It was a beautiful cool day and we loved talking to Danielle, Lindsey and my father in Logan. We enjoyed nice memories of Grandpa Flake, too. Father's Rock!
June 16, 2011 Quick Visit from Lindsey and Carlton
Celebrating their one year anniversary by eating a piece of their wedding cake.
(We had kept it for a year in our freezer!)
We went out to the lake with the kids and Carlton's parents and brother Spencer.
We all had a great time sailing!
Lindsey and Carlton pack up their Toyota before heading out on the 36 hour road trip back to Philly. They spent the first night in Colby, Kansas and the next night in Springfield, Illinois.
They attended church in Pittsburgh, PA before arriving home Sunday evening.
Gratefully, everything went well for them.
Carlton and Lindsey needed to get a car and take it back to Philadelphia. They have been living one block from Campus and one block from their LDS church so they have gotten by a year without having a car. Now that they are expecting a baby and are moving farther out of the city they will need a car. Carlton's parents have been wonderfully kind to give them their Toyota sedan. The kids had a week break so they flew into Las Vegas late Tuesday night. We picked them up and arrived back to St. George at 4:00 am.They attended church in Pittsburgh, PA before arriving home Sunday evening.
Gratefully, everything went well for them.
After sleeping in a bit we were up and ready to enjoy our two days with them. We started off with a delicious waffle breakfast and had the Taylor's over to join us. Next we packed up and went to Sand Hollow to enjoy the sun and sailing. We came home and cleaned up and then went to the Taylor's condo for a Delicious Indian meal. We enjoyed a nice evening of visiting and playing games.
The next day we sent the boys off to Bloomington Loop to mountain bike and the ladies did some shopping. We helped Lindsey find a few maternity clothes and picked out some material for some baby quilts. Later we had the Taylors in for shishkabobs. We had an indoor barbeque as it was too hot to enjoy eating out doors. We played some games and packed up their car.. Two days just wasn't enough time when they live so far away; but we were glad to know that they will be returning for a longer visit in August.
Our nephew Richard stopped by for a short visit. He interviewed today for a teaching position at Dixie State College. He is just completing his PHD in Physics. Great two days of family.

Canoeing at Kolab Reservoir June 7, 2011
Dan and I took some canoes up to Kolab Reservoir so the girls from our ward could canoe on their first day of Girls Camp. It was a beautiful day and they all had a great time. The drive from Virgin to Kolab is one of my favorite! It is spectacular. We found some trails that we want to explore this summer. The snow is melting and rivers are flowing high.

Angels Landing Hike June 3, 2011
I hiked Angels Landing with some of my friends from Millcreek High School: Amber, Kathleen and Heidi. We have been doing a Fitness Challenge all spring through the WCSD and we even had matching shirts made to wear on our hikes. These ladies have been doing a great job losing weight and this was to be the culminating hike of the school year.
I have hiked Angels Landing in Zion Park several times with the family but I'd never been to the very top. I stayed back with the small children once and another time the path was too icy to continue. It was a perfect day and we had a great time and finished the day with lunch at Oscars Cafe in Springdale. The summer is off to a great start!

Lindsey and Carlton are Expecting a Baby!
Lindsey and Carlton are expecting a baby to arrive around October 20! She will be graduating from college with her Bachelors degree in August and Carlton will have one year of Dental school completed. They are living in Philadelphia and Carlton is attending the University of Pennsylvania. Lindsey has been working at the National Constitution Center but will stay at home with the baby when he arrives. They are not going to find out the sex of the baby until it arrives. The odds are on it being a boy! We are all very excited!!
