Christmas Tree Hunt 2011
t
On Saturday, December 3 we went on our traditional Christmas Tree Hunt. We were joined by the Suttner and Saaralainen families and friends. We stopped in Veyo to buy our tree tags. It was cold and snowy so we knew we were in for a colder than normal tree hunt.
Dan tried a rode down in a canyon thinking it would be protected from the cold wind. We went 4 wheeling and forged a river and bottomed out and dented Dan's truck a bit, but didn't find any worthy trees. So we went on up to our usual road that heads toward Pinto from Pine Valley.
We had to have the Suttners park their car and load in with us because the roads were snowing and slippery. There was a lot more snow than usual but we were prepared with snow gear so we trenched up the mountain in search of the perfect tree.
The Suttners and Saaralainen's found big, beautiful fluffy trees but we were all cold and tired the time we were looking for ours so we settled for a nice straight 10 ft. tree that would just need a little grafting.
We had yummy dips and chips, hot chocolate and rice krispie treats and of course shared a box of chocolates as per tradition. It was a great time and more Christmas memories were made. We had to hurry back down the mountain and get Andrew changed so he could play in his first Washington City league basketball game of the year. They won!
