Zion Hike on Martin Luther King Day

We hiked in the Court of the Patriarchs on the Sand Bench trail on Monday. There was a little sand and lots of snow. We were with Dan's brother Jon and his kids Darrell, Jonba, Jeremiah and Monson. It was a nice day. Zion is just as gorgous in the winter as other seasons. We also visited Grafton, the ghost town.

Andrew is an Eagle Scout!

Andrew passed his Board of Review on January 14 so he is now an official Eagle Scout. We are planning a Court of Honor for him in February. We are very proud of him for completing it when he is just 14 years old.

Dan Takes a Tumble

Dan took a tumble while mountain biking on the Bloomington Loop on New Year's Day. He ended up in the ER and the Xrays show that he tore the ligaments in his shoulder. He better take it easy for a few weeks and start acting his age. he was with Darrell and the Brewers.

New Years Day Hike

We went for our annual New Year's Day Hike with our friends the Saaralainen's, Swejkoski's, and cousin Darrell. We hiked above Snow Canyon with the trail starting right before the Ledges on the left. There were petroglyphs and beautiful views. We leaned later that Dan had torn his ligaments in his shoulder that morning and was hiking in pain!

Danielle and Steve Visit

We enjoyed having Danielle and Steve with us for a week over the Christmas Break. Danielle is expecting in June and this will be our first grandchild. She is starting to feel better and hasn't been too sick. We played games from sun up to sun down. Monopoly, four square, croquet, mini golf, Blurt, Mafia, Phsyciatrist, Sequence, Scum, Mormon Bridge, etc. We even took a fun hike up at Red Cliffs. We missed Lindsey, but were so happy to talk to her on Christmas day. She is doing great and was enjoying the snow as well.

Snow in Logan

We spent four days in Logan and the boys had a chance to build a snowman and we all went Cross Country Skiing up Smithfield canyon with my brother Scott as our guide. It was a great time. Logan received 9 inches of fresh snow on Chirstmas day so there was plenty of fresh powder. It was even fun to shovel the walks since we only get to do it once a year!

Christmas Eve Twice!

Andrew and Dawson make cool wise men!
We had Danielle and Steve visiting from Portland, OR and they had to head to Orem to be with Steve's family on Christmas Eve so we celebrated twice. Actually we opened presents four different time. Christmas Adam with Danielle and Steve, they had to get their new pajamas, then Christmas Eve morning we gave them the rest of their presents. Then in Logan we had Christmas Eve with the Datwylers and opened a few gifts then Santa found us with a few more gifts on Christmas morning! We had a simple Christmas but it lasted a long time! Nothing beats good family, good food and good times!
