Zion Canyon with Danielle's Family and Cousins

 Flake cousins, Jonathan and Ryan joined us and Danielle's family on a fun trip to Zion.

 We rode the Zion tram up to the top of the canyon.

 Danielle is 8 months pregnant, but not afraid to hike.

 We hiked the river trail that goes up to the beginning of the Narrows trail.

 There were lots of friendly chipmunks around. They were actually really annoying and bit Ryan's toe. They are used to being fed from all of the tourists.

 We took a little rest at the top of the trail while the boys hiked in the Virgin River a bit.

Some people here are beginning or ending the Narrows hike.

Grandma Flake's 80th Birthday

Floretta Hatton Flake, Dan's mother turned 80 on July 16 this year. We celebrated her birthday on Sunday at the Flake Family reunion. We were happy to have Aunt Dorren and Uncle Wendell and some of their kids and grand kids and Aunt Vonda and her daughter Chi Kay come up and join us for a celebration. We had cake, watched a few video tributes and played 'How well do you know Flo".

I am so glad that Grandma has been able to live in St. George near us for the last three years. We have enjoyed Sunday dinners and watching sports and Hallmark movies with her at her home across from the temple. We will miss having her so close to us but have really cherished our time together.

Chelsi Petersen Scholarship Midnight 5K run

 Andrew was awarded the Chelsi Petersen Scholarship award this year. Funds are raised in support of the scholarship from a Midnight 5K fun through the subdivision where Chelsi grew up. She was killed in a car accident up Provo Canyon. She was a runner and Lindsey went to the National Hershey meet in Hershey Pennsylvania with Chelsi on her relay team. We became friends with her and her family. Dan, Shelly, Dawson and Andrew all ran the 5K along with a few of Dawson's friends.

Independance Day Fun!

 Cousin Victoria Hatton from Kentucky with Grandma, Br. McArthur and Dan. McArthur's grandfather converted Victoria's and Grandma's ancestors back in Kentucky in the early 1900's.       Br. McArthur found the journals of James McArthur, the missionary that converted the Hattons.

Victoria was here attending DSU. Great story!

Fun Fourth of July fun with Flake cousins and Brandy. We later watched the fireworks with Grandma, down at her home by the Temple. The Hatch and Suttner families joined us.

Steve Graduates from Dental School

 Danielle is expecting a baby in August.

 Steve's mom adjusts Steve's graduation medals. He graduated with honors! Way to go!

We packed up all of Danielle and Steve's belongings and moved them to Prescott, AZ. They have called Portland home for four years as Steve attended Oregon Health Science University.
